Core Values

Who We Are…

Well, to be frank, we are still on a journey with God to find out what that all looks like.  As we are growing though, we do feel God has given us two primary values to stay focused on.  These values come directly from Jesus in Matt 22:37-39  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  From these simple, yet extraordinary, words we have put before us these two core-values:

To be RELATIONAL We believe God is on a mission and has gone to extravagant lengths to convince us of one primary thing…He deeply desires to have an authentic and passionate love relationship with each of us.  We also believe that we, as human beings, were created and ‘hard-wired’ to be relational beings with both God and each other.  Therefore, one of our two core values to the DNA of Damascus Road Church is a deep commitment to a living out our lives through ‘real-time’ relationship with God and with each other.

To be MISSIONAL Being convinced of His amazing love for us we are compelled to join him in His mission and long to demonstrate His deep affection for all in practical and compelling ways.  We believe no one better demonstrated more perfectly and practically the way to do this than Jesus Christ, himself.  As a result, we look to his example and the examples in scripture how to most effectively express his love to our church family, our community and our world.
